Apple pie



Making apple pie is a classic dessert that everyone should know how to make. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you make your very own delicious apple pie. 


Ingredients

 - 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (about 6 medium) - 3/4 cup sugar - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour - 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg - 1 tablespoon lemon juice - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter - 1 double crust pastry - 1 tablespoon milk - 1 tablespoon sugar 


Instructions


1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). 


2. In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Make sure that the mixture is thoroughly combined. 


3. Roll out half of the pastry and fit it into a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish. Trim the edges of the pastry. 


4. Pour the apple mixture into the pastry-lined dish. 


5. Dot the top of the apple mixture with 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. 


6. Roll out the other half of the pastry and place it over the filling. Trim the edges of the pastry. 


7. Cut several slits in the top pastry to allow steam to escape. 


8. Brush the top of the pastry with milk and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar. 


9. Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C), and then reduce the oven temperature to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and continue baking for an additional 35 to 45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender. 



10. Allow the pie to cool before serving. And there you have it - a delicious homemade apple pie!
